The year 9 Alps class's favourite music artists (with brief biography) are:

1. Eminem -

Marshall Bruce Mathers III (eminem) was born in Missouri USA on 17th Oct 1972 and spent his childhood moving inbetween Kansas City USA and Detroit USA. He attended Lincoln High School in Warren USA and started recording songs on cassettes, sending them of to recording companies. His girlfriend got pregnant and they decided to get married. Dr. Dre took on eminem after hearing him rap on the radio. He has released 8 albums and has released 1184 songs.

2. T.I
Clifford Joseph Harris Jr.(a.k.a T.I) was born in Atlanta, Georgia on the 25th Sep 1980. He grew up on the streets with the nickname tip (T.I.P) but later changed his nickname to T.I to avoid confusion with Q-Tip. He owns his own record label and has been awarded many awards including 2 best street albums. T.I has released 10 albums and has released 19 songs.

3. Tripod
Tripod is a three man Australian musical comedy act. The band members include Scod (Scott Edgar), Yon (Simon Hall) and Gatesy (Steven Gates). The trio play a variety of performance styles, from soft ballads to hard rock performing these with only the accompanying music of Scod (and at times, Gatesy) playing the acoustic guitar.All friends met at university and all did busking in Melbourne malls. After the band was formed the trio went on "Hey Hey It's Saturday's" red faces contest and later entered the Australian International Comedy Festival, both of these acts boosted their popularity. Also through various radio appearances they became well-known. Tripod has released 9 albums and have released 188 songs.

4. Paramore
Paramore began in Franklin, TN, where Hayley Williams met brothers Josh and Zac Farro after moving to town from Mississippi. Already an amazing singer at the age of 13, Hayley joined a band that the Farro siblings had formed with guitarist Taylor York. She left the group soon after, signing with Atlantic Records as a solo artist instead, but had problems with the company over the direction of her music. Seeking to create her own band, Williams convinced Atlantic to let her put together a full lineup. Josh and Zac Farro were recruited for the job, as were guitarist Jason Bynum and bassist Jeremy Davis.
Paramore became super popular in 2006 and has continued to release hit  songs. Recently the two Farro brothers left the band  but paramore still continues to write songs after this horrific loss. They have released 5 albums and have released 49 songs.

 5. Kisschasy
 All growing up together in the small country town of Balnarring Mornington Peninsula, the 3 other guys minus Daz had nothing better to do with their time than practise in Karl's Attic. It wasn't until a lucky meeting between Daz and bassist Joel Vanderuit at the 2002 Warped Tour, that they knew that they had to ditch their current musical outfits and form what we know today as Kisschasy. The band average age is 20 and the band has been touring nationally for the past three years. They have released 3 albums and have released 28 songs.

6. 50 cent
Curtis James Jackson III was born in the South Jamaica section of Queens. Curtis "50 Cent"  has lived in New York City all his life, raised by his grandparents after his father ran out and his mother was shot when he was only eight. Growing up, the Queens rapper originally wanted to be a heavy weight boxer, but eventually fell back on rapping. 50 Cent hit the scene with "How To Rob An Industry Nigga" and he's been on a rampage ever since dealing with bootleggers, label back stabbing and other platinum selling artists trying to get at him physically.  50 was shot three times , two shots hitting him in the head, 50 cent keep the bullet that struck his face as a reminder of what happened. That event led to the fall out with Columbia and negotiating his release from their grasps. After this event Curtis's carrier was going down hill until eminem said on the radio that 50 cent is the best rapper right now. That changed everything and now 50 cent is still releasing hit songs. He  has released a total of 12 albums and has released 349 songs.

7. The Script
The Script are an Irish trio who all spent their childhoods singing or drumming. They got together after they all heard one another sing or drum they formed their band and have continued to create beautiful music. (not much information on the script).The script has released 2 alums and has released 23 songs

8. City and colour
City and colour (Dallas Green) was born on the 19th Sep in 1980, in St. Catharine's, Ontario. City and colour is the solo acoustic playing of Dallas Green on the lead vocals, guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano or he is accompanied by an occasional backing musician.(not much information on city and colour either). He released 3 albums and has released  approximately 16 songs.

9. Muse
Muse are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band is made up of old school friends Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, guitars, piano, keyboards, keytar), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, backing vocals, keyboards, guitars, harmonica) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion, synthesisers, backing vocals, sampling).The band members are all approximately 20 years old. Muse has released 6 albums and have released 128 songs.

Rise Against is an American band from Chicago, Illinois, that was formed in 1999. The band members are Tim McIlrath (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Zach Blair (lead guitar, backing vocals), Joe Principe (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Brandon Barnes (drums, percussion). Rise against has released 11 albums and has released 104 songs.

11. Lisa Mitchell
Lisa Helen Mitchell was born on the 22nd of March 1990 in Canterbury, England. She moved to Australia when she was 3, growing up in Albury, NSW. She begun guitar lessons at the age of 12, and performed  in cafes playing  fol.k and rock songs.She now lives in Melbourne and can play the guitar, piano and vocals. This amazing Australian singer has released 3 albums and has released approximately 47 songs.

12. Lost Prophets
The Lost Prophets were formed in 1997 by a group of friends who were sick of not hearing what they want in the modern alternative music scene. The band members are Ian Watkins(Vocals), Mike Lewis(guitar), Lee Gaze(guitar), Stuart Richardson(bass), Mike Chiplin(drums), Jamie Oliver programming/ Decks all of which are from varied musical backgrounds. Lost Prophets have released 8 albums and have released 99 songs.

Dwayne Michael Carter J.R.(Lil' Wayne) was born on the 27th of Sep, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisian. Since the young age of 9 Dwayne was singing in rapping groups but unlike other young rappers he refrained from swearing in his songs for his mothers sake whilst he raps about events that have occurred in his life. He has released 14 albums and has apparently released around 800 songs.

14. Never shout never
Christofer Drew Ingle(never shout never) was born on the 11 of Feb 1991 in Joplin, Missouri, US.Christofer started his music career when he was a teenager and started to learn guitar. That same year he received a mac computer with sound-editing software on it.Christofer put a video of himself singing on the internet, this video was noticed and was liked by allot of people. This was the beginning of his singing career . Since then Christofer has been touring and releasing brilliant songs. Never Shout Nnever is a very talented 20 year old guy who can play guitar, bass guitar, ukulele, violin, drums, percussion, tambourine, cabasa, djembe, glockenspiel, xylophone, marimba, sleigh bells, piano, keyboard, synthesizer, programming, banjo, harmonica and vocals, that's allot of instruments! Never shout Never has released 6 albums and has released 58 songs.

15. Justin Bieber
Justin was born on the 1st of march 1994 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Justin started off playing his guitar and singing out the front of a theatre in Stratford, Ontario. His mum filmed his performances and put them on You Tub. Justin received many phone calls of people offering to manage his singing career but they were denied by his mother who was apprehensive about horror stories of young stars.Justin Bieber was discovered singing on youtube by his present agent, who quickly arranged for him to fly to Georgia to meet with Usher. The young star signed with Island Records and is still continuing with his growing career. Justin Bieber has released 4 albums and has released 41 songs.

The Year 9 alps class's top 10 Horror Movies are:

Nightmare on Elm street -



Is about a serial killer who kills people in their dreams, resulting in death in real life.


The Grudge  -





Is about spirits who died in a house who stalk, scare and kill the present residents of the house.

The exorcism of Emily rose -


Is about a girl who gets possessed and they have to perform an exorcism to get the demon out of her.


The Decent -


Is about a caving expedition which turns into disaster as they are chased by a strange breed of predator.

The Missing -



Is about a women from Mexico who's daughter is kidnapped by a Apache Brujo and so she makes an uneasy union with her father to get her daughter back.

The Hills Have Eyes -



Is about a family of outback Americans who are being stalked by a group of phycotic people who live in the desert.

Tales from the dark side -




Is about a child who tells three stories of horror to keep from being eaten by a witch.

Silent Hill -



Is about a women who goes looking for her daughter in a strange and deserted town called silent hill.

The last house on the left -



After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee unknowingly
 finds refuge at a vacation home belonging to the parents of one of the victims; a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics.

These are a good choice of films to watch when you have friends over chosen by the year 9 Alps class themselves!!!

Australia Scenery Photos

   When travelling around Australia i took some photos these are some of them. These range from three different individual holidays. In 2008 we travelled up the middle of Australia and travelled around Western Australia and back home(25,000km). In February 2010 we went and explored Tasmania along the way taking many scenery photos whilst visiting many national parks and historical sites(5,000km). And in October 2010 we travelled up central Queensland until we reached the northern most tip of Australia, there we ventured to Thursday Island for a day. We continued down the east cost of Queensland back home(14,000km). Meaning that in one year we travelled from the southern most tip of Australia to the northern most tip of Australia.
